Friederike “Fritzi” Maria Simmons, 91, was born in Vienna, Austria and passed away on April 16, 2018. She worked for Radio Austria where she met her husband, Wesley. Fritzi was a member of East Ridge Church of Christ. She loved her dog, Bailey and being amongst family. Fritzi enjoyed crocheting, working outdoors, reading and playing games. She was very kind and enjoyed doing things for others. She is preceded in death by her husband, Wesley Napoleon Simmons; son, Charles W. Simmons; parents, Josef and Auguste Gross; brother, Karl Gross; and sister, Elfriede Bors. She is survived by her children, Richard G. (Teresa) Simmons, Irene Roberson, Donald K. Simmons and daughter-in-law Kathy Simmons; grandchildren, Lainie Simmons, Lauren Brady, Casey Waters and Taylor Simmons; great-grandchildren, Evelyn Brady, Daniel Brady and Eleanor Brady; and sister, Gertrude Spiegelhofer. A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 19, 2018 from 6 pm to 8 pm at Chattanooga Funeral Home, North Chapel. A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 20, 2018 at 2:30 pm at the funeral home with Minister Charles Cochran officiating. Interment will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
