George was born in Jasper and has been a longtime resident of the Chattanooga area. George worked with TVA and retired from the maintenance department for Baylor School.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Cline Floyd; his children, Shirley Jean Floyd Babbs, Jimmy S. McGowan and Annette DeVito.
George is survived by his daughter, Vicki Mercer and husband Brooks of Hixson; sons, E. John Floyd and Danny “Lefty” Floyd both of Chattanooga and Joseph N. Floyd of Fort Oglethorpe, GA ; 10 grandchildren and many great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 pm on Thursday and 11 to 1 pm on Friday at the North Chapel.
Services for George will be held at 1 pm on Friday at the North Chapel with Richard Floyd conducting the service. Burial will follow in Harrison Cemetery.
Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
