

Harold grew up in Marianna, Florida. He attended the United States Merchant Marine Academy, where he served our country during World War II as a Merchant Marine and he received his degree in Marine Engineering. Harold received his BS degree in Chemical Engineering from Auburn University. He was employed with Waterman Steamship Corporation, Pepperell Manufacturing Company and retired after 29 years of service from TVA. After his retirement he was employed with the DOE and then served as a consultant to the State Department and World Bank Projects. Harold loved traveling with his late wife to Pakistan, England and the Soviet Union. Harold enjoyed canoeing, and through their memberships in both Tennessee Valley Canoe Club and Tennessee Scenic Rivers Association, they canoed rivers from Tennessee to Florida to Arkansas to Michigan. He was a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, American Nuclear Society, National Society of Professional Engineers, Tennessee Society of Professional Engineers and the Chattanooga Engineers Club.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice Falkenberry; parents, Leroy and Lillian Smith Falkenberry; daughter, Esther Marie Falkenberry.
Harold is survived by his daughter, Carol F. (Thomas) Hackney of Chattanooga; sons Thomas L. (Louise) of Cartersville, GA and Roger (Jayne) Falkenberry of Maynardville, TN; granddaughter Carrie Griffith of Chattanooga, grandsons Michael (Lucinda) Falkenberry and Zachary L. (Lana) Falkenberry; great granddaughters Carrie Eilleen, Anna Marie, and Dace Sarah Falkenberry and great grandsons Harold Sheridan Falkenberry, Ethan Phillips, Isaac Falkenberry; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 pm on Saturday, October 24, and 1 to 3 pm on Sunday at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 3 pm on Sunday at the funeral home chapel with Nancy Penton officiating. Burial will follow in Chattanooga Memorial Park.

Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
