Harvey J. Wyrick

Born August 18, 1933 in Aklawaha, FL, Chattanooga has been his home since 1978. He was a member of Curlew Methodist Church in Palm Harbor, FL and attended Hixson United Methodist Church here. He was a member of the Masonic Blue Lodge in Lafayette, LA.

Harvey served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War in Germany and France. While stationed at Foster Air Force Base in Victoria, Texas he met his wife, Betty Webster and they were married in Lafayette, LA in 1957. He worked in the oil field with Mobil Oil and Otis off shore until changing to Ryder Truck Rental, where he retired in 1989 after 28 years as a Research and Development Representative. After retiring he worked for himself as an RND Representative until 1998.

When not working, Harvey loved fishing on Sam Rayburn Lake in East Texas with his children and grandchildren. Also loved hunting deer and birds with friends and family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Bartow Brooks Wyrick and Rosa Phine Wyrick; brother, Donald Eugene Wyrick, father-in-law, Clifford Ellis Webster, sister-in-law, Bebe Marie Webster Nichols, brother-in-law, Jack Huettig..

Harvey is survived by his wife of 54 years, Betty Joyce Webster Wyrick; children, Joyce Dee (Jeff) McDaniel, Clifford Brooks (Tammie) Wyrick, Pamela Kay (Jeff) Glass; sister, Virginia Faye Huettig; six grandchildren, Tiffany McDaniel (Brian) Striepling, Michael (Stephanie) McDaniel; Kristen Wyrick, Kyle Wyrick, Andrew Glass and Mackenzie Glass; four great grandchildren, Ellis James Striepling, Elaine Rose Striepling, Aiden Wyrick Riker, Brooklyn Jayde McDaniel, several nieces and nephews.

Our thanks to Dr. Will Voelsky and Dr. Thomas Caldwell who took care of him. Many thanks to the Hospice of Chattanooga North Team who cared for him in his final days, and our pastor, Randy Martin, who helped him to find peace for his journey.

A memorial service will be held 3:00 P.M. Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with the Rev. Randy Martin officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions made to Hospice of Chattanooga would be appreciated.
