Herschel Candler Crittenden, 94, of Hixson died Thursday, February 10, 2022. He was born July 24, 1927 in McMinn County, Tennessee to the late Charlie and Lassie Crittenden. He was preceded in death by the love of his life and wife of 55 years, Betty. His son, Wayne and siblings, Hooper, Zella, John, Nick, Ruth, and Jack also preceded him in death.
He was a member of Hixson First Baptist Church.
Mr. Crittenden was past president of Hixson High School Sports Boosters. He was retired from DuPont as a sheet metal Crafter after 36 years of service.
He was a veteran of the Army Air Corps.
Survivors include his sons, Denny (Nancy) Crittenden and David (Trisha) Crittenden, and a sister, Roxie Brown.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, February 16 at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Reverend Terry Shannon officiating. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4-8 Tuesday.
