

He was born in Flat Rock, Alabama to the late Barbara Ann and James Driscoll Wright. Ishmael was the youngest of 12 children. He served our country during World War II serving in the U. S. Army, stationed in Okinawa and was part of the planned invasion forces. Ish retired from the Electric Power Board with over 37 years of service and was a member of the IBEW Local for over 60 years. He was an active member for over 60 years at Oakwood Baptist Church. Ish was a volunteer with the local Veterans Administration, member of the Memorial Cardiac Rehabilitation exercise group where he was known as the “Godfather” and the Harrison Masonic Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Jeannine Wright; a granddaughter, Valerie Lauren Wright and his eleven siblings.
Ishmael is survived by his children, Louis S. (Billie) Wright and Sherri Wright; grandchildren, Julie Wright-Carlson and Christy Wright and a great granddaughter, Savannah Wright-Carlson; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 pm on Tuesday and 11 am to 12 (noon) on Wednesday at the North Chapel.
A Celebration of Life Service for Ishmael will be held at 12 pm (noon) on Wednesday at the North Chapel with Pastor Ken Clark officiating. Burial will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ishmael’s name to Oakwood Baptist Church, 4501 Bonny Oaks Drive, Chattanooga, TN 37416.
Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson, TN 37343.
