He was a World War II veteran of the U. S. Army.
Jack was a member of Hixson United Methodist Church, and of the Sam McConnell Sunday School Class.
He was an employee of Vandsco Printing Company for over 50 years.
Jack was also an American Red Cross volunteer for over 25 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Margaret Stiff Ellis Sr.; his brother, Elmer Ellis Jr.; and his niece, Kim Petit.
Jack is survived by his wife of 78 years, Irene Wright Ellis; two sons, George (Victoria) Ellis, and Mike (Alice) Ellis; 3 grandchildren, several great and great-great grandchildren; and one nephew, Gary Ellis.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 24, 2022 at 2:00 PM at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, with Reverend Drew McCallie officiating. Entombment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until service time at North Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the McConnell Scholarship Fund at Hixson United Methodist Church, 5301 Old Hixson Pike, Hixson, TN 37343.
