Jackie was born July 8, 1936, in Daisy, Tenn. A graduate of Hixson High School, he is a member of the school's Hall of Fame. He was a local residential and commercial builder for 38 years, a career for which he was awarded Home Builder of the Year in 1978.
He was an avid, self-taught golfer and won several tournaments in the Chattanooga area, including the Senior Golf Championship of Chattanooga in 1989. His passion for golf was rivaled only by his love for his wife of 51 years, high school sweetheart Betty Marsh Davidson, his children and grandchildren, and, of course, UT sports.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Ginger Kay Davidson and his parents, Homer and Weltha Davidson.
Jackie is survived by his wife, Betty Davidson; daughter, Suzy (David) McKenna; son, Eddie (Dale) Davidson and a brother, Lamar (Judy) Davidson; grandchildren, Brittney McKenna, Blake and Nicole Davidson.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 7 PM on Tuesday at the North Chapel.
Memorial services for Jackie will follow the visitation on Tuesday at 7 PM at the North Chapel with The Rev. Sam Payne officiating. Burial will be private on Wednesday at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jackie’s name to Ronald McDonald House, 200 Central Ave., Chattanooga, TN 37403.
