James co-owned and operated Clemons and Brock Carpet Installation Company for over 41 years. He served in the US Navy for 4 years, member of the Mount Carmel Baptist Church for 63 years. James was one of 18 children to Gentry and Naioma Allard Clemons.
James is preceded in death by parents Gentry and Allard Covington Clemons; brothers Paul, Larry, Thomas, Gilbert, Everett, Albert, Wayne, and Clifford Clemons
Sisters Ruby Kell, Armadell Margerum, Pauline Newell, Etta Perry and Irene Clemons
James is survived by his wife Mary Humble Clemons
daughter Ann ( Leonard)Hall
granddaughters Kathy (Jeff) Hawkins and Angie Hall
grandson Jimmy Hall
great grandsons Andrew, Devin and Matthew Hawkins

The family will receive friends Sunday August 26, 2012 from 2 pm Until 6 pm at The North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home
Funeral Service will be Monday August 27,2012 at 11:30 am at Chattanooga Funeral Home – North Chapel
Interment will follow to Hamilton Memorial Gardens
