

Jayne Cagle (Gergel) of Chattanooga, TN, beloved wife of Ben Cagle passed away on May 1, 2017 after a brief illness. Jayne's life was rich in experience and adventures. The oldest of 4 children, she grew up in Warren, OH and graduated from JFK High School in 1976. She went on to receive her BS in Dental Hygiene from Youngstown State University and her Masters of Dental Hygiene from University of Missouri at Kansas City. In her early career, Jayne worked as a Dental Hygienist, taught Dental Hygienics at East Tennessee State University, Johnson City, TN and served as President of the Tennessee Dental Hygienists' Association from 1995-1996. During this time, Jayne became immersed in Genealogy and Native Plants Horticulture, two passions she carried throughout her life. She loved to teach and even more she loved to learn. In looking for ways to heal from injuries, Jayne became acquainted with yoga and thus began her true lifelong passion of learning and teaching Purna Yoga and Heartfull Mediation. She studied at Purna Yoga College, completing 2000 hours of studies in 2012. Jayne was the Owner of One Joyful Yoga and Waconda Bay SUP and Yoga; through her work, she touched many lives in positive and joyful ways. Her smile lit up the room. She and Ben especially loved paddle board season on Waconda Bay where Jayne led yoga sessions on the boards. She also enjoyed paddle board river races; her all time favorite was a moonlit paddle board row with Ben and friends when there was a full moon over the bay. Jayne was preceded in death by her grandparents, her mother, H. Elaine Gergel, sister, Joyce Gergel and father-in-law, Berton Cagle. She is survived by her loving husband, Berton (Ben) Cagle of Chattanooga, step-daughter, Tricia (Brian) Hinshaw and granddaughters, Allison and Laney Hinshaw of Asheville, NC, father, Dr. Daniel Gergel of Warren, OH, brothers, Jeff (Kim) Gergel, Jerry (Maureen) Gergel, mother-in-law, Ruby Cagle, brothers-in-law, Danny (Carla) Cagle and Michael Cagle, nieces and nephews, Michaela, Clayton, Charles, Grace and Anna Gergel, Michael Cagle Jr., Ruby McDougal, Danette Steele, Michelle Raulston and numerous friends and family. If desired, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Breast Cancer Support Services, 1400 McCallie Ave, Suite 110, Chattanooga 38404. Cremation has taken place. Her family will hold a private service to celebrate her joyful life at a later date. Arrangements under the direction of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist-North Chapel, Hixson, TN.
