

Jesse was born on September 30, 1934 in Orme, Tennessee and served our country in the National Guard. He was a longtime resident of the Chattanooga area. Jess was a former employee with Kentec in Atlanta and retired from Duo-fast Corporation. He was a member of Red Bank United Methodist Church where he served on the financial committee, was very active in the CAC Ministry, Alpha Sunday School Class and sang in the Men’s Chorus on Sunday mornings. He was a big supporter in the East Brainerd Youth Organization and a member of the Red Bank Lions Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Josephine Tant; siblings, James Tant, Clara Payne, Nora Lawhenore, Bertha Thomas, Alice Aubuchon and Ethel Moore.
Jesse is survived by his wife of 53 years, June Rollins Tant; daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Tim Waddell; grandchildren, Blair Waddell and Richard Blake (Kristen) Waddell; great grandson, Barrett Waddell; brother, John (Marilyn) Tant; sister, Agnes Bilinski; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday and 12 (noon) to 1 p.m. on Tuesday at the North Chapel.
Services for Jesse will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday at the North Chapel with Rev. Jeff Lambert officiating. Burial will follow in Lakewood Memory Gardens, West in Tiftonia.
Memorial contributions may be made in Jesse’s name to the Red Bank United Methodist Church or the American Heart Association.
Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist.
