He was born in Sunbright, TN to Joe Ben, Sr. and Ida Moore Hutcherson.
His family moved during his early youth among Tennessee, Kentucky & Illinois due to his father’s job with the railroad, finally settling in Dayton, TN. He attended the University of Kentucky.
In 1950 he married the love of his life, Dortha (Dot) Angel, and settled in Hixson, TN where they raised their two sons, Joe and Donnie.
He was employed at DuPont Company for 41 years. He was active in the community serving as a member and deacon of Red Bank Baptist Church for decades, the Red Bank Lions Club, Red Bank Jaycees, and was the longest-serving board member of the Chattanooga Area Regional Transportation Authority.
Above all, his life was dedicated to his family and living his Christian faith.
Those who knew him thought him to be the kindest, caring, and most gracious man who was always grateful for his many blessings.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two infant brothers, and his cherished wife of 65 years, Dot.
He will be remembered with love by his surviving family, sons Joe (Karen) Hutcherson and Donnie (Lisa) Hutcherson, his four grandchildren, Ashley (Bryan) Hobbs, Michael (Liz) Hutcherson, Zach (Rachel) Hutcherson, Nick Hutcherson, his five great-grandchildren, Anslee Hobbs, Emery Hobbs, Teddy Hutcherson, Eli Hutcherson, Kinleigh Hutcherson, life-long friend Betty McDonald, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be from the Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home North, on Thursday, December 2, 2021 at 10:00 AM EST, with Dr. Fred Steelman officiating. Interment will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:30 PM on Wednesday at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
