I had the privilege of growing up across the street from Johnny, Martha, Jeff, and Amanda. Mr. Johnny and Mrs. Martha always welcomed us neighborhood kids into their home and treated us like one of their own.  A lot of memories were made there. I’ll always remember those campers and thinking how cool they were, the high top vans with the entertainment systems, train sets in the basement, and their house being my refuge in the blizzard of ‘93 with Mr. Johnny supplying us all with the most outstanding beef stew. Every Christmas growing up we would have a neighborhood Christmas party and even after all the “kids” moved out, but we haven’t had one in several years and this past Christmas many of us were able to get back together. Man, I am so thankful we got to do that. Johnny will be missed but I am grateful to have known him. My family will keep the Roberts and Gentry family in our prayers.

I had the pleasure of working for John just prior to my retirement after returning to Chattanooga from  Wilmington, De. I have known John  for many years and have always had the highest respect for him , Great friend, manager and  dedicated employee.

I had the pleasure of working with John at DuPont when the Batch Polymer area was installing major capital equipment. John was very supportive of me and my work. I had a lot of respect for him as a leader.  It saddens me to hear that he has left this world. May God bring the family comfort. This is never easy.

I am so sorry for your loss.   I worked for John for several years.   He was so nice, always pleasant to be around.   My prayers for comfort and strength.   God bless you all.

So sorry for your loss, John was my maintenance manager for several years at Dupont and was a very good man. saw him a month or so ago and we talked about old times at work and of course Disney. I will truly miss John and again I am sorry for your loss.

John Roberts was a rare man for today’s times. Everytime we had the experience of spending time with him and Martha, we enjoyed their stories of their loving marriage and family and faith.  There was always a positive lesson worked in our conversations.
He also had a great sense of humor, tempering  his leadership for ORG with his years on our Board of Directors, as the chair of the Safety Committee.  Evidenced in our welcoming signage at the front entrance of the park, showing the speed limit and the message to watch out for “the old coots and children” who lived here.  That took some amusing explanation to several younger people.  For where they were, there was always joyful laughter.  
John will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by James and me and all of his many friends here at ORG.  Our sincere condolences and prayers to Martha and his family.  Our love to you all.
