John W. Thornburg, 93, of Chattanooga died Saturday, March 5, 2016. He was born September 2, 1922 in Dayton, Tennessee to the late James and Viola Thornburg. He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Thornburg; daughter Vickie Thornburg; granddaughter, April Thornburg; sisters, Emma Casteel, Juanita Fisher, and Louise Thornburg.
Mr. Thornburg was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church for 47 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving with the 25th Battalion in World War II and the Korean War. He was retired from TVA after 40 years of service.
Survivors include a son, David (Cynthia) Thornburg; daughter, Twila (Charlie) Fuller; grandchildren, Michael Thornburg, Amy Thornburg, Natasha Fuller and Kirisa Patrick; and great grandchildren, Mason Thornburg, Gabriel Patrick, Neveah Patrick, and Elle Patrick
Funeral services will be 1:00 Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4-8 Monday.
