John William Toomey Jr.

John William Toomey, Jr., age 96, of Marietta, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 4, 2026. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, John lived a long and meaningful life focused on family, hard work, and dedication.

Born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, John was the son of the late John Toomey, Sr. and Pearl Mowery Toomey. He began his career at Dixie Industrial and went on to build a successful professional life, retiring from W.W. Grainger after more than 20 years in Sales Management.

John was the beloved husband of the late Mary Joyce Powell Toomey, with whom he shared 68 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a strong and loving family.

He is survived by his children, Pamela (Russ) and John (Lisa); his cherished grandchildren, Laura (Scott), Jessica, David (Mistica), and Russ (Maggie); and his treasured great-grandchildren, Greyson, Micah, Eleanor, Elijah, Tandy, Pace, Piper, Judah, and Levi. He is also survived by sister-in-law Ann Powell, along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and his wife, John was preceded in death by his sister Evelyn Briscoe and brother-in-law, Bob Briscoe and Ray Powell, and his sister-in-law, Linda Faye Dukes.

John will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his strong work ethic, and the legacy of kindness and dedication he leaves behind. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Services for John will be held on Friday April 10, 2026 at 11:00 AM at the graveside in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
