John was born in Memphis, Tennessee and is currently residing in Hixson. John served our country during World War II, in the United States Army, serving in the 568 Automatic Weapons Battalion, Anti-Aircraft Artillery Division, as a gunner. He owned and operated Vannucci’s Restaurant and Liquors in Memphis for many years. John attended St. Jude Catholic Church, Hixson.
He was preceded in death by a son, Larry Joseph Vannucci; his parents; two brothers and a sister.
John leaves behind to cherish his memory a wife of 70 years, Mary Louise Vannucci; daughter, Linda (Tim) Bolgeo; son, John O. (Sharon) Vannucci, Jr.; six grandchildren, Shannon (Stephanie) Vannucci, Brandy Bolgeo Spraker; Jason (Jamie) Bolgeo, Joseph (Elizabeth) Vannucci, Jacob and Jerad Vannucci; seven great grandchildren; one great great grandson; and a sister, Betty Vannucci, SCN.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 pm on Wednesday, March 15, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, where a rosary will be said at 7:30 pm.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, at 2 pm CDT, at Calvary Cemetery, 1663 Elvis Presley Blvd., Memphis, TN 38106.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in John’s name to the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth, P. O. Box 9, Nazareth, Kentucky 40048.
