Larry was a graduate of Soddy Daisy High School and received his master’s degree from East Tennessee. Larry has had a lifelong career in nuclear energy retiring from the Department of Energy (Y12) at Oak Ridge in 2013.
Larry was the lifelong preacher at the Church of Christ that meets as Middle Valley. Larry loved to laugh, aggravate and preach the gospel. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, sibling and friend. He was well known in the community for preaching, collecting antiques and helping those in need.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years “Patsy” Clements; parents, Ollie and Arlie Clements; siblings, Madge Lockhart, Wallace Clements, George Dean Clements, Betty Crawley, Shirley Matherly, Ben Clements, James “Jim” Clements, John Clements, Lane Hall and Jerry Clements; stepdaughter, Andye Hall.
Larry is survived by his wife, Rea Clements; children, Larry “Clem” (Randa) and Brian Clements; grandchildren, Baylie Clements, Ethan Clements, Masyn Clements and Meagan Beasley; sister, Dorothy “Dot” Yasko; sister-in-law, Shirley Sims Clements; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 21, at the Church of Christ at Middle Valley, 1882 Thrasher Pike, Hixson, TN 37343.
A Celebration of Larry’s life will follow at 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Church of Christ at Middle Valley.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Larry’s name to the Church of Christ at Middle Valley or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
