

Lawrence Royston Duncan, age 87, was welcomed into Heaven on November 15, 2025. Born on November 29, 1937, in Oliver Springs, Tennessee, Lawrence made his home in Hixson, Tennessee, where he spent a lifetime devoted to his family, his work, and his faith. Heaven received a warrior the day he passed.
Lawrence proudly served his country in the United States Army as part of the 4th Armored Division, stationed in Germany in 1958 during peacetime. After returning home, he built a long and respected career at Combustion Engineering, where he became a key figure in the manufacturing of large engineering equipment. Known for his incredible ability to fix anything,
Lawrence was a man of resourcefulness, wisdom, and unwavering dependability.
He was preceded in death by his father, Willie R. Duncan; his mother, Maggie Duncan; his brother, Lowell Duncan; and his son, Michael Duncan.
Lawrence is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Julia Woods Duncan; his daughter, Michele Knauss and her husband, Mike Knauss; his grandson, Eric Knauss; and his great-grandchildren, Hunter and Jade Knauss. He is also survived by niece Sharon Teodosio and her husband Thomas Cook; grandson Brian Teodosio; great-granddaughter Felicia Teodosio; granddaughter Stacy Mejia and her husband Jeff Mejia; great-grandchildren Amorie Rogers, Isaiah Rogers, and Natalia Rogers; granddaughter Sara Teodosio; niece Fawn Collins; great-nephew Michael Collins; great-niece Melissa Schneider; grand-nephew Brandon Collins; niece Tonya Duncan Hubbard; grand-nephew Denver Duncan; his brother Charles H. Duncan and wife Kay Duncan; niece Jennifer Duncan Ward and husband Tim Ward; nephew Chuck Duncan; and his special friends Mike and Janie Payne, Norma Knauss, and King Lewis.
Lawrence was a longtime member of Sequoyah Baptist Church in Hixson, Tennessee, where he faithfully served and deeply cared for his church family. He lived a life marked by generosity, compassion, and quiet strength. Those who knew him will remember his steady hands, his giving heart, and the love he poured into every person he met.
As Scripture promises in John 3:16: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who have offered prayers, support, and love during this time. Lawrence lived a life of giving and loving, and the family is comforted knowing his legacy lives on in the many lives he touched.
Funeral Services will be held at the graveside in Hamilton County Memorial Park, 8900 Dallas Hollow Road, Soddy Daisy, TN 37379, at 1:00 PM Saturday November 22, 2025 with Brother Tim Ward officiating. Friends and family will begin to gather at the graveside at 12:00 Noon and continue until service time.
