Lawrence was born on June 14, 1935 to Oliver and Clara Hamrick of Cannon Creek in Pikeville, TN. He was an avid sportsman of the outdoors who enjoyed hunting, fishing and especially time with family and friends. He was also a student of Hixson High School where he was named the captain of the Hixson Wildcats Football Team, while also playing baseball, basketball and was a member of the F.F.A and Letterman’s Club until graduating in 1953. Lawrence then met and married the love of his life, Sue Hamrick in 1955 and went on to have 2 children. He was a dedicated and loving husband for 67 years. He then started his career with Dupont, where he worked his way into supervision until retiring after 35 long years of employment.
Lawrence was preceded in death by Oliver and Claire Hamrick and survived by his wife Sue Hamrick, Johnny (brother) and Hollis Hamrick, Jane (sister) and Ed Parrish, Debbie (daughter) and Mike Carnes, Mike (son) and Deidra Hamrick, Nick (grandson) and Lesa Carnes, Chris (grandson) and Heather Carnes, Kayla (granddaughter) and Ryan Gilmer, Taylor Hart (granddaughter), McClain (granddaughter) and Jacob Tallent, Hunter Jackson (grandson), 7 great grandkids and a host of several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
We would like to thank all the longtime neighbors, staff and nurses with Hearth Hospice and Story Point Assisted Living for all the care received for Lawrence and family.
The family will receive friends from 11 am to2 pm on Wednesday, January 11, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
Services for Lawrence will follow at 2 pm on Wednesday at the North Chapel with Chaplain Ed Parrish officiating. Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
