Lorna loved the Lord and was a member of Abba’s House in Hixson, TN, which she attended for many years. She had a merry heart and was always available for prayer and encouragement. She loved spending time with family and friends. At the age of 99 she still delighted in winning at cards and played a mean game of cribbage. She maintained a positive attitude and a good sense of humor. She would jokingly say she wanted her tombstone to read, “I did dishes”.
She also enjoyed silly puns and jokes which she usually had difficulty repeating. However, one joke that she consistently told throughout the years was from her brother, Gordon. It went like this: “A toothless termite went into a bar and said, is the bar tender here?” Then she would laugh and laugh, becoming funnier than the joke itself.
Lorna suffered the loss of her husband, Howard Wakefield Jr., in 1992, and her great grandson, Tristin Greer, in 2015. She will be greatly missed by her three children, Nancy Franks, Janice Palmer, and Howard (Rusty) Wakefield III, her 5 grandchildren and her remaining 15 great grandchildren. She will be remembered especially for her kindness, compassion, sweet spirit and her big, beautiful smile, and those who loved her have been truly blessed with the longevity of her life.
