Lyman F. Wade Jr. was born on January 15, 1947 to Bertha Marie Hemphill Wade and Lyman Francis Wade Sr. He was named after his father, who promptly decided to call him “Butch” because he held his tiny fist up like a little future boxer.
Butch never fulfilled his boxer destiny, but he had a wonderful, varied life and several careers. He retired as a Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force, managed a restaurant and convenience stores, loved working at Alexian Grove ad was a bank courier after deciding that retirement wasn’t for him. Along the way he tried his hand at several things, but his most important and loved “job” was being a dad and granddad.
Butch is survived by his wife, Patti, and their combined five children- James (Jenice) Wade, Chris (Michelle) Wade, Melissa Wade, Mindy Farris and Kendol (Megan) Siler. He has ten beloved grandchildren and a precious great granddaughter.
He is also survived by his cherished sister, Teresa Bak and his nieces and their families, all of whom were dear to him. He leaves behind many friends, one of whom is his first wife, Phyllis Adams Wade, who is still a special person to him.
Butch was loved and will be missed by all who knew him. He departed this world on November 23, 2019. He will not be forgotten.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 27th from 3-5 pm at Chattanooga Funeral Home North Chapel, Hixson. At 5 pm on Wednesday, there will be a memorial service to celebrate Butch’s life and will include military honors. There will be a private inurnment at Chattanooga National Cemetery at a later date.
Arrangements are under the care of the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson. Please share your thoughts and memories at www.chattanooganorthchapel.com
