Margaret Ann (Krause) Harding

Margaret Ann Krause Harding, age 82, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on the morning of January 15, 2026. She was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, on August 25, 1943, to John and Ann Krause and was the youngest of three children, preceded by her sister Marilyn Hecht (Al) and brother Bill Krause (Sue).

On April 30, 1965, Margaret married Richard “Dick” Conrad Harding. Together they raised three sons: Todd (Stephanie), Chad (Leah), and Brent. Their marriage was rooted in faith and devotion, and they built a Christ-centered home that provided a strong foundation for their boys. Margaret’s love for Dick never wavered, even as he battled ALS and passed away in 1990. Through those difficult years and the season that followed as she raised her family alone, Margaret leaned fully on the Lord. In her weakness, God was faithful, answering her prayers daily and sustaining her with a strength and peace that could only come from Him.

Margaret’s life was marked by an extraordinary capacity to love. Filled with the love of Christ and a joyful spirit of giving, she consistently put others before herself. Her humility and selfless care for those around her modeled a rare and beautiful example of Christ-like love.

Family was one of God’s greatest gifts to Margaret, and she cherished it deeply. She naturally became the beloved matriarch of the family, loving not only her sons but so many others as her own. Her modest home was always open and welcoming, with an uncanny ability to make room for all who entered. Holidays and gatherings at her table were filled with laughter, warmth, playful teasing, and an abundance of food. Margaret loved to cook, but even more, she loved feeding others—ensuring that every visit included everyone’s favorite dishes waiting for them as they arrived.

She embraced her daughters-in-“love,” Stephanie and Leah, from the very beginning, cherishing them as her own. Her joy multiplied with the arrival of her grandchildren: Emmi, Alex, and Christopher, children of Todd and Stephanie; and Maya and Conrad, children of Chad and Leah. She delighted in being “Mammaw” to each of them, showering them with unconditional love and encouragement. Margaret was also blessed to briefly enjoy knowing her first great-grandson, Fox Walker, a gift that brought her great joy in her final days.

Margaret dearly loved her church and the lifelong friendships formed there. These relationships, built through decades of prayer, worship, celebration, and sorrow, were a living testimony to the beauty of Christian fellowship. Together, these faithful women walked through life side by side, lifting one another up and glorifying God in all seasons.

Margaret’s faith in Jesus was evident in every season of her life. In both joy and suffering, she was quick to give all glory to God. Though she knew deep loss, she never wavered in her trust in the Lord.

As we mourn the loss of our beloved Mom, Mammaw, and friend, we grieve with hope—rejoicing that Margaret has been given the abiding and everlasting rest for her soul and welcomed into the loving arms of her Savior, hearing the words, “well done good and faithful servant”.

The family would like to send their deepest gratitude to the numerous employees of Morning Pointe in Hixson and Solomon's House who cared for Margaret so well during her time there.

A visitation will be held on January 20, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm at First Presbyterian Church, located at 554 McCallie Ave, Chattanooga, TN 37402.

A funeral service will follow at the same location, beginning at 1:30 pm.

The committal service will take place at Chattanooga Memorial Park, 501 Memorial Drive, Chattanooga, TN 37415, at 3:00 pm on the same day.
