

Mr. Matthew Franklin “Frank” Pitner III, 78, of Signal Mountain, passed away on Friday, December 23, 2016. He was born July 9, 1938 to the late M.F. Pitner and Wilma Wall Pitner. He was a graduate of Chattanooga High School and the University of Chattanooga. Frank was a veteran of the US Army serving as a First Lieutenant in the Ordinance Corps. Frank retired from Dupont after 35 years of service, working in several management positions. He served as the Vice Chairman of the Tennessee Safety Council, and on the Alumni Council of UTC. He was an active member of First-Centenary United Methodist Church having served on the Administrative Board, Financial Committee, and Congregational Care Committee. He also served as Sunday School teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, and a church usher. Frank was a member of the Signal Mountain Golf and Country Club where he served as secretary to the Board of Directors. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Linda Davis Pitner; daughter, Shannon (Dr. Mike) Rossitch; son, Mark (Jeanne) Pitner; brother, Albert (Susan) Pitner; grandsons, Charles, Matthew, and Andrew Rossitch; and several nephews and nieces. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, December 30, 2016 at First-Centenary United Methodist Church with Dr. Doug Fairbanks officiating. The Morgan Sunday School Class will be honorary pallbearers. Interment services will be at 10:00 am Friday, December 30th at Chattanooga National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to First-Centenary United Methodist Church. Arrangements are under the care of the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson. Please share your thoughts and memories
