Nellie Geraldine “Gerry” Lewis, 86, of Hixson died Monday, June 12, 2023 at her home. She was born February 13, 1937 in Dalton, Georgia to the late Henry and Minnie Thorne. She was a graduate of Dalton High School. Mrs. Lewis was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Thorne and a sister, Shirley Williams.
As a single mom, raising her two sons, she put herself through night school to further her career as a bookkeeper.
She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Thomas Glenn Lewis, sons, John DeWayne Rhudy and Michael Alvin Rhudy; stepchildren, James Todd Lewis and Terri Siever; sister, Henrietta Watson; eight grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 11-2 Thursday, June 15 at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. Followed by funeral services at 2 in the chapel. Interment will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
