

Norma Eleanor Garrett Hitt, 86, of Chattanooga, Tennessee passed away on August 24, 2019. She was an award-winning sales lady in the French Room at Miller Brothers Department Store and was a business owner/operator of Korner Kubard in Red Bank for 30 years. She had a passion for fashion and cooking. Norma supported local charities, taught Sunday School, enjoyed spending time with family and helping others. She was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church for over 50 years.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Eugene Willard Hitt; parents, Rev. Miles Dewey Garrett and Maude Viola Cox Garrett; siblings, Evelyn Williams, Alyce Lawrence, Miles Garrett, Don Garrett, Mary Jo Gasior and Betty Scoggins.
She is survived by her son, Steven Eugene Hitt (Else Marie Nissen Hitt); daughter, Patricia Rose Hitt Craft (Ferry William “Bill” Craft); granddaughters, Jennifer Kay Hitt Melby (Kenneth Melby), Ellen Marie Hitt and Sarah Elizabeth Craft Smith (Kurt Smith); great grandchildren, Grant Emerson Melby, Elizabeth Ada Melby, Lula June Smith and Maisy Rose Smith; many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church designated to Women’s and Children’s Shelter, 305 West 7th Street, Chattanooga, TN 37402, Fifty Forward Care Team, 174 Rains Ave, Nashville, TN 37203 or St. Luke’s Community House, 5601 New York Avenue, Nashville, TN 37209.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 from 4-7 pm at Chattanooga Funeral Home, North Chapel.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at 9:30 am at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church with Rev. Brad Whitaker officiating.
Arrangements are held by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson, TN 37343.
