Ray was born, Wednesday, August 20, 1941, in Kittanning, PA, to the late George Myers and the late Jessica Pinto.
If you were to ask 100 people, who was Ray Myers, you would most assuredly get 100 different responses.
He was complex. A man that whole heartedly believed in the virtue of respect. He believed that respect was never given freely, you had to earn it. Ray was a simple stubborn man: a thinker, usually motivated by mowing his neighbors’ lawns, who used to say, “If you came home to find only half your lawn mowed,” it was because Ray finished thinking. He was also a landscaping artist, who took pride in the 30-plus years it took to never finish his back yard oasis just the way he wanted it, who was in a never-ending battle with his nemesis, Crab Grass. A life-teacher and a giver of his time. A jack of all trades. A creator of all things natural, propagator of flora and fauna. An expert on all things guaranteed to give you cavities. A meticulous perfectionist. He was a pool shooter, woodworker, giver of advice, problem solver, a fisherman hunter tracker; a true conservationist, who loved the land. A thorough man, who if you asked him for directions, you would also learn how potholes are formed. A frugal man, who believed it was the purist definition of insanity to spend $6 on a Dairy Queen banana split; however, purchasing $100 of ingredients at the local grocers, in order to build one yourself was perfectly understandable. He was a patriot, who had a great love for his country, serving in the Air Force, when he asked Cheryal Noble, “where have you been all my life,” and the rest is 60 years of history. He was a spoiler of children and animals, especially his consummate sidekick, Henry. A storyteller, who, if you came around enough times, would happily tell you the same story over and over and over and over and over until you could recite it verbatim, but he always made time to listen, he was a great listener.
Maybe he was none of these, or maybe he was all of them, but no one would doubt that he was an absolute friend you loved to be around. He was a loving husband, who believed that his greatest accomplishment in life was being a daddy, Pop and Pop-Pop.
In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded into the Promise Land by his dad, Joe Pinto; uncle, Mern Williams; aunt, Phyllis Williams; daughter, Lisa Marie Lambeck-Grey; grandson, Landon Noblitt; brother-in-law, Lester Noble.
Left to carry on Ray’s legacy are his loving wife, Cheryal; Children, Cheryl Ann Ledford, Ray Myers (Melissa), Ann Coulter (David), and Henry; Grandchildren, James Grey, Megan Ledford (Erik), Heather Baker (Derrik), Kelley Coulter (Shawn), Jeffrey Ledford, Garrett Noblitt, Kerianne Ledford, Billy Ledford, Brittnee Hyde, Taylar Coulter, and Jackson Myers; Great grandchildren, Lyric Baker, Travis Brennan, Lucy Baker, Asher Brennan, Paislee Hyde; Sisters, Lorraine O’Brien, Frances Branning; nieces, nephews and the multitude of others who honorarily thought of him as their dad and grandfather. He was truly loved by many.
