Mr. Raymond "Ray" Reed

Ray was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who always brought joy and a smile in with him.

He retired from the State of Tennessee Department of Employment Security and Department of Labor and Workforce Development as a Veterans Outreach Specialist working in finding employment for disabled veterans.

Prior to his employment with the State, Ray served his country for over 26 years in both the United States Marines and Air Force.

During his duty through WWII, Korea and Vietnam, he was awarded 2 Bronze Stars, 2 Meritorious Service Medals, 4 Commendation Medals and several other service related awards.

He was a member of American Legion Post 14 and VFW Post 4848.

Ray is survived by his loving wife Joyce Reed; sons, Rev. Jay (Ann) Reed of Chattanooga, Jeff Reed of Chattanooga, and Jon Reed of Venice FL.; grandchildren, Lauren, Jason, Josh and Julia Reed; nieces; Bobbie (Rich) Frazier of Linville VA.; nephews, Jerry (Wanda) Callahan of Chattanooga, and Jimmy (Brenda) Callahan of Chattanooga.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, September 27, 2010 at the North Chapel with Rev. Jay Reed and Rev. Curtis Henderson officiating.

Interment will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery with full Military Honors.

Visitation will be from 2:00 – 6:00 PM on Sunday, September 26, 2010 and on Monday from noon until the time of the service at the North Chapel.
