Roy was a Veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army and retired from Quaker Oats Company. He was a member of Hickory Valley Community Church, where he served as Sunday school teacher for several years.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Lynn Wood and his parents, George and Maggie Wood.
Roy is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Pansy Martin Wood, and his daughter, Pamela Wood, of Chattanooga, brother, Bruce (Pauline) Wood and sister, Marie (Calvin) Poarch all of Cornersville, TN and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4 until 8 pm on Saturday and from 1 until 2 pm Sunday at the North Chapel.
Services for Roy will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, May 27 at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with the Rev. Duke Stone and the Rev. Gene Butler officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
