

Shirley was a native of Meadeville, Pennsylvania, and a graduate of Bethany College in West Virginia. She married her late husband, Ray, in 1958 and moved to Chattanooga.
She was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church and the Sierra Club. Shirley’s passion was the Sweet Adeline’s with Scenic City Chorus, where she was a charter member since 1962 and Past President. She enjoyed singing with the chorus and especially the competitions, and made many life-long friends with the Sweet Adelines.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Joseph Raymond Siener, her parents, Harvey and Josephine Saylor Smith, and a brother, Robert Smith.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law; Mary and Frank Ferguson of Signal Mountain, Sally and Gary Cooper of Hixson, Lori and Bill Heagy of Winter Park, Florida Wendy and Kyle Kelly of Signal Mountain; nine grandchildren, Julia Ferguson, Valerie Luttrell, Alex Schultz, John Schultz, Jessica Heagy, Charlie Heagy, Cooper Heagy, Madison Kelly and Matthew Kelly; a sister, Mary Truka of Miami, Florida; two nieces, JoAnne and Phil Sheehe and family, Barbara and Jim Graham and family; and special friend, Mary Lynn Steffens.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff and sitters at Manorhouse Assisted Living and 2nd Floor staff at Memorial North Park and Care Assist for their constant care and support. Special thanks to Hospice of Chattanooga.
A funeral mass will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 30 at St. Jude Catholic Church with Father Charlie Burton officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4 until 7 p.m. Wednesday at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
