

He was born in Frankfort, Kentucky, September 2, 1926, to Thomas Robert Lyons and Jessie Wilmot Lyons
Following high school graduation from Frankfort High School, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, from August 1944 to June 1946. He then entered the University of Kentucky and graduated in 1950 with a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering.
He married Mary Lou Ziegler in Frankfort, Kentucky, on March 20, 1948
He was employed by Southern Bell and South Central bell Systems all of his working career in five cities in Kentucky and Tennessee. He retired October 31, 1987 in Chattanooga, Tennessee as Operations Manager, Engineering.
As a registerd Professional Engineer in Kentucky and Tennessee, He was active in professional engineering organizations, including the Chattanooga Engineers Club, serving as president in 1987
Tommy was an active member of Red Bank United Methodist Church where he taught an adult Sunday School Class for many years.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-six years, Mary Lou Lyons. Surviving children are Thomas Robert ( Marcia) Lyons of Springfield, Tennessee, Mary Leslie ( Steven) Tipps of Signal Mountain, Tennessee, and Peggy ( Alan) Mynatt of Cleveland, Tennessee.
Grandchildren are Cayce Broker, Leslie Spuler, Joshua Lyons, Jonathan Lyons, Jarrod Lyons, Beth Tipps, Katelyn Dowlen, Amanda Huyser, and Logan Mynatt. He is survived by eleven great-grandchildren

The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 25, 2014, from 10:30 am until 12:30 pm at Red Bank United Methodist Church
Funeral Service for Thomas will be conducted at 12:30 pm at Red Bank United Methodist Church with Rev. Bruce Galyon officiating
interment to follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery
