Velma Mae Tolbert

She was born on February 6, 1929, in Geraldine, Alabama. She moved to Lupton City with her family when she was 16 years old. Velma worked at Dixie Yarns for 44 years and Ryan’s Steakhouse for 14 years. She was a faithful member of Brooks Memorial United Methodist Church. Velma was a prayer warrior for her church, family and friends. Anyone who meet Velma knew she loved Alabama Crimson Tide Football. She also enjoyed watching golf on Sunday afternoons. She cherished weekly phone calls from nephews, Terry and David.

Velma is preceded in death by her parents, William Clark and Evelyn Lena Tolbert; brothers, Major, Charlie, Pete, Buck, Jim and Ralph Tolbert; sisters, Beulah, Sylvia and Sissie Tolbert; nephews, Larry and David Tolbert.

Velma is survived by her nephews, Terry, Tony and Mickey Tolbert; nieces, Linda Sullivan, Karon Tolbert, Jamie Brown and Lisa Tracy; sister-in-law, Noni Neal; special friends, Deanna, Theresa, Violet, Mechaele, Trish, Mark, Diana, Robert, Esther, and Amos.

The family would like to thank her caregivers at Life Care of Red Bank and Hearth Hospice.

Graveside Services will be held on 1 pm on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at Hamilton Memorial Gardens, Hixson, Tennessee, with Pastor Patrick Williams and Reverend Crystal Fallesen officiating. The family will gather at the North Chapel around 12:45 and go together to the graveside service.
