He was retired from the U.S. Army, having served in the Vietnam War. He was a Charter Member, Life Member and Past President of Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 203. He was also Past President of the Tennessee State Council of Vietnam Veterans of America. He was the recipient of the Charles H. Coolidge Award (veteran of the year) from the Chattanooga Area Veterans Council in 1985 and was a member of Disabled American Veterans Chapter 6.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jimmy Fry.
Survivors are a sister, Martha Sue (Ellsworth) Mines of Chattanooga; brothers, Dicky (Charlette) Fry and Ricky Fry all of Bryant, Alabama.
A graveside memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday at Chattanooga National Cemetery with Chaplain Phil Minton officiating. Full military honors will be performed by Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 203.
