

He was born on January 3, 1927 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Luke trusted our Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior at age 23. He was a member of Middle Cross Baptist Church.
Luke was a World War II veteran and served in the U. S. Navy in the South Pacific for 22 months. He was an electrician on an attack cargo ship, USS Sarita AKA 39.
Luke was a Mason and a member of Red Bank Masonic Lodge # 717.
Luke worked for Southern Railway System, later known as Norfolk Southern, for 46 ½ years as a crane operator, machine operator, and a foreman in the storehouse department. During that time he was local and division chairman for the Railway clerks for 15 years.
Luke was a member of lodge # 24 and served as President of the lodge 2 terms. He was a husband and father who was appreciated and loved by his entire family. He loved hunting, fishing, and was an avid boxing fan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James A. and Elizabeth Rogers; brothers, James A. Rogers, Jr. and Cecil Rogers; sisters, Rana Vaughn and Linda Porter.
Luke is survived by his wife of 64 years, Wilma Angel Rogers; three daughters, Pamela (Don) Ringley, Judy (Tommy) Gardner and Jacquie (Huey) Long; six grandchildren, Robyn (Vance) Grant, Jason (Diana) Long, Jeremy (Michelle) Long, Brooke (Ryan) Kocker, Jordan Tyler Long and Andrew (Becky) Curtis; seven great grandchildren; brother, Maurice (Merrill) Rogers and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 PM on Wednesday and 1 to 2:30 PM on Thursday at the North Chapel.
Services for Luke will be held at 2:30 PM on Thursday at the North Chapel with Tom Castleman and Rev. Wallace Angel officiating. Burial will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist.
