

Agnes Schramm Fisher McClosky, age 89, died peacefully at her home on September 24, 2013, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in the small Czech community of Ammansville, Texas, the oldest daughter of Justina Horak and August Schramm. Agnes and her sisters and brother grew up on a small cotton farm. She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Albert Fisher, second husband, Tony McClosky, brother, Allen Schramm, brother-in-law, Martin Kaase, and son-in-law, Richard Leubner.
Agnes is survived by her children: Margaret “Peggy” Fahrenthold and husband Rick, Mark Fisher, Carol Havemann and husband Donnie, Margaret Ann Leubner, Pat Chmiel and husband Larry, and Tony “Buster” McClosky; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Maggie Kainer and husband Joe, Josie Kaase, and Mary Ann Fishbeck and husband Marvin; sister-in-law, Bernice Schramm; and numerous nieces and nephews.
As a young woman, Agnes worked at Frank’s Place in Schulenburg, Texas. She was widowed at an early age but found happiness for a second time with Tony. Together they enjoyed their children and grandchildren, great-grandchildren, their many friends and polka dancing. Agnes loved working in her yard, baking kolaches and apple strudel, and making homemade sauerkraut. She was a member of Assumption Catholic Church since 1955 and a member of the Altar Society, Catholic Daughters, Harvest Years, Ladies Auxillary No. 2917, KJZT, and Polka Lovers Klub of America (Po.L.K. of A.).
The Visitation will be held 5-8 p.m., Thursday, September 26, 2013, at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Albert Zanatta at 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 27, 2013 at Assumption Catholic Church, 901 Rose Lane, Houston, Texas 77037. A luncheon will be served immediately following the Mass at Assumption's John Paul Hall. Rite of Committal will then follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, 6900 Lawndale Avenue. Pallbearers: Jeffrey Leubner, Richie Fahrenthold, Darren Havemann, Curtis McClosky, Kevin Chmiel, and Darrell Havemann.
