Agnes Theresa (Smotek) Peters, 92, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 23, 2025, in Houston Texas. Agnes was born on December 6, 1932, to Tracy (Prihoda) and Adolf Smotek, in Snook, Texas. She attended high school at the Ursuline Academy in Galveston, Texas, graduating from same in 1951. In 1954, Agnes was married to Dennis Peters and subsequently dedicated her energy to the raising of their three sons. Agnes was a deeply religious woman. Her faith in Jesus Christ served as a beacon to all who knew her and was an important anchor in the raising of her three boys. It was Agnes’ lifelong dream to be ensconced in the love of her Heavenly Father and in recent times, to be reunited with her son Mike, her brother Sonny, and the multitude of family members who passed before her.
Agnes loved the holidays (especially Christmas), and it was her great joy to host most holidays in her home, where she masterfully prepared holiday meals, desserts and treats for her abundant family members and guests. As a family, we will be forever grateful for her love, kindness and care.
Agnes is survived by her husband, Dennis Gary Peters, her two surviving sons, Stephen David Peters and Daniel Thomas Peters, her grandson, Matthew David Thompson-Peters, her granddaughter, Ashley Marie Peters and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Adolph Smotek Sr. and Tracy Mary (Prihoda) Smotek, her oldest son, Michael Gary Peters, and her brother, Adolph (Sonny) Smotek Jr.
Our family would like to express our deep appreciation to the Encompass Rehabilitation Center in Katy Texas, the Sebala Assisted Living Care Home, and the Omega Hospice personnel for their professional and tender care. In lieu of flowers, if you are so inclined, please donate to your favorite charity in Agnes’ name.
