Albin Charles Podsednik, of Houston, Texas, passed peacefully into the loving arms of his Lord on January 1st, 2026, at the age of 86. Born in West, Texas, in June 1939, Al lived a humble but deeply devoted life centered on faith, family, and service.
Al was born, the youngest of ten children to Anna and Louis Podsednik, and grew up in a close-knit, hardworking household that shaped his gentle humility and strong work ethic. He often spoke of his childhood with gratitude, remembering both the challenges and the love that filled a small house with many brothers and sisters.
For 63 years, Al was the loving husband and steadfast partner of Carolyn Podsednik, with whom he built a home grounded in faith, laughter, and unwavering, loyalty. Their marriage was a daily example of quiet sacrifice and enduring love, and he considered his greatest accomplishments the family they created together.
Al proudly served his country in the Amy Reserves, carrying with him a lifelong respect for those who wore a uniform and for the freedoms they protected. Friends and family alike remember him as humble, kind, and quick to lend a hand, always rooting for the underdog and those in need. He studied business at the University of Houston and then went on to found AMSCO Products Inc., a steel products and manufacturing company in Houston, Texas, in 1979. What began as a modest operation grew under his leadership into a highly successful international steel products business, which he proudly sold in 1999. In his working years, he was known as honest, steady, and fair, the kind of man people trusted instinctively and counted on without hesitation.
He loved golf and saltwater fishing, finding simple joy in a well-struck shot with his brother Dan, or a quiet morning on the water, but his true passion was time spent with his children and family. Al’s happiest moments were when the people he loved gathered close, telling stories, singing songs, and sharing meals together.
Al is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn Westbrook Podsednik; his son, Scott Podsednik, and wife, Erin, and their children. Michael, Jack, Nicholas, Isabella, and Ava; and his daughter, Amy Podsednik Beasley, and husband, Kevin Beasley, along with their children, Andrew Beasley, and Kristopher Beasley and his wife, Abby, and two great-grandchildren. Eli and Brooklyn.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Monday, January 12, 2026, at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 1801 Sage Road, Houston, Texas. A private graveside service with the family will follow the Funeral Mass.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Al’s memory with a contribution to dementia research through the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org, by selecting “Make a Donation” and choosing a memorial tribute gift in his name.
