On December 20, 1947, Althalo B. Henton, Sr. was born at Negro Hospital in Houston, TX to the blessed union of his loving parents Moses B. Henton and Ruthie Mae (Penkins) Henton who preceded him in death. He was the only son born to this union. Althalo's mother made sure he was raised in the fear and admonition of God. Her godly life and quoting biblical scriptures was instrumental in him surrendering his life to God as well. To God be the glory for the things he has done. Althalo became a Sanitation Engineer for the City of San Diego then worked with National Steel Shipbuilder Company as a Ship Fitter and Burner. This led to his life as a Merchant Sealift for 37 years until his retirement from sea life in 2010. During his sea career, Althalo worked for Military Sealift Command in Oakland, CA and National Maritime Union-SIU in Houston, TX. Traveling the globe was Althalo's passion. During his travels, he circled the world eight times in addition to his multiple travels throughout the United States. No matter where his travels led him, Althalo loved telling anyone he could about the goodness of God. With credit given to his mother's loving guidance, several churches are credited with Althalo's spiritual growth through biblical teachings. As a young child he was a member of, and baptized at MOrning Star Missionary Baptist Church. He united with New Mount Calvary Baptist Church where the Reverend Willie Jones is the pastor. Althalo was also a Master Mason and a member in good standing with Grand Lodge #46 (A.F. & A.M.) in Houston, TX.
