Alvaro Mendoza

Alvaro Mendoza was born in Houston, Texas on Chartres Street. His parents were Evaristo and Felicitas Mendoza. Mr. Mendoza served in the U.S. Army for approximately 2.5 years, with an Honorable Discharge. In 1956, Mr. Mendoza married his beautiful wife Isabel De Alejandro. They had three beautiful children together Norma Jean, Al Jr., and Jerry Mendoza. Mr. Mendoza worked for the Port of Houston for 33 years as a longshoreman. Al Mendoza was a devoted husband and father. He enjoyed supporting the Skeeters and Astros. He liked to go camping and boating with his family in New Braunfels, TX. Mr. Mendoza was an honest, sincere man with much integrity. He had a great admiration for education. Al Mendoza was preceded in death by his parents, his son: Al Mendoza Jr., brothers: Martin Mendoza, Rudy Mendoza and Fernando Mendoza, sisters: Marina Mendoza and Clemincia Trevino. A wake is scheduled at Forest Park Lawndale from 11:00 am – 9:00 pm with a rosary to be held at 7:00 PM. A Funeral mass will be held at St Christopher’s Catholic Church located at 8150 Park Place Blvd in Houston at 2:00pm on Thursday, January 9, 2014. Pallbearers for Mr. Mendoza will be Anthony Messa, Michael Messa, Robert Kondas, David Carrion, Robert Mendoza Sr. and Alex Carrion.
