

A beloved husband and father, Andy Poe Wooten, Jr. , “Andy P.”, 89, of Houston, Texas, was born on January 16, 1926 in Alba, Texas. Andy passed away, into our heavenly Father’s loving arms on October 8, 2015. His faith, ever strong…we delight knowing he is with Jesus.
He will be remembered for his big, kind heart, for never meeting a stranger, and filling every room he entered with laughter and warmth. He believed in God, Family and Country, serving 2 years in the United States Navy active duty, aboard the USS Audrain, during WWII. He went to work for Washington National Insurance Company in 1952 where he became a District Manager, and he retired in 1981. He then went into the Used Car Business and was the owner of A.W. Enterprise on North Shepherd for over 40 years. Andy was a past president of the HIADA, and was a member of various other organizations, including the VFW, American Legion, and Knights of Columbus. He and his wife, Mary Ann, are charter members of St. Ambrose Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Andy Poe Wootan, Sr and Ora Norcie Gordon Wootan Ford, his Sister, Bernice Williamson and husband, Ira, his brothers, James Harrison “JH” Wootan, A. Maurice Wootan and wife, Genell, and Nathaniel E. “Nath” Wooten and wife Bea, his nephew, Gordon McGahee and by his Granddaughter, Misty Nicole Wooten.
He leaves behind his wife of 66 years, Mary Ann Grizzaffi Wooten, his daughter, Linda Robinson and husband Larry, his 3 sons, Andy John Wooten and wife, Susan, Terry Wooten and wife, Margaret, and Craig Wooten. He leaves behind grandchildren, Larry, Lorie, Lauren, Christina and Scott, Danielle and Scott, Mackenzie, Andy John, Jr, Greg and Flor, Aaron, Caila and Malcolm, and Craig, Jr. He also has 13 great grandchildren, Pierce, Payton, Parker, Tanner, Brody, Ava, Jyeshua, Jessica, Preston, Bethany, Christian, Noah, and Faith.
Visitation will be held 5:00pm to 8:00pm, Monday, October 12, 2015 at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00am, Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 4213 Mangum Rd., Houston, TX. Rite of Committal will follow at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery.
Jesus said in John 14: 1-3, “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s home, there are many rooms. I go to prepare a place for you. I will come again. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.”
