

Anna Evelyn Davalt Leu, 99, was born on Wednesday, July 8, 1914 in Beckham County, Oklahoma, and went home on Saturday, July 27, 2013. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Bill Allensworth, and three grandsons: Bobby and Susie Allensworth, and their children, Tyler and wife, Kacy, and Nick; Wayne and Stacy Allensworth and their children Elizabeth, Rachel, and Matthew; and Marvin and Shavonn Allensworth and their children, Kaler and Jacob. She is also survived by one sister, Wilma Sorsby, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Leu, her parents, Sam and Maud Davalt, three brothers, and four sisters.
Evelyn worked for Sears Custom Drapery and was an excellent seamstress. She was an avid deer hunter and looked forward to opening weekend every year. She also enjoyed gardening, working in her flower beds, and spending time with her family.
The family would like to thank the staff of The Cottage of Spring Branch for all their loving care.
Family and friends gathered at a visitation on Monday, July 29th from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Waltrip Funeral Directors, 1415 Campbell Road in Houston. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, July 30th at 11:30 a.m. in the sanctuary of Concordia Lutheran Church, 4115 Blalock in Spring Branch. Evelyn was buried next to her husband at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 13001 Katy Freeway, also in Houston.
Honored to serve as pallbearers were her grandsons, Bobby, Wayne, and Marvin Allensworth, and her great grandsons, Tyler, Nick, Jacob, and Matthew Allensworth. Serving as an honorary pallbearer was Ron Shaw.
