I worked with Art at LyondellBasell and always found him to be true professional. Through his demeanor and his art, he won the trust of our senior executive team and so many others. Art’s work reached people well beyond Houston, Texas and even the United States. His photos and videos were viewed by thousands of our employees around the world and by so many of our external stakeholders. He played a key role in shaping perceptions of our company and I will be forever grateful for everything he has done. His legacy will live on through his work.  Godspeed, Art. 


I met Art when he would come to my 5 grand joys parties.  My daughter (Heather Garza) had him take pictures for us many times over the years.  What a kind, sweet and gentle man he was.  We are so sorry for your loss and we will treasure the beautiful pictures that we have.  May all God's comfort and strength surround your family.

I had the pleasure of spending a week with Art last summer when he came to the Midwest for a photography shoot. We traveled for a solid week straight, eating all of our meals together and talking about our faith, family and careers. At one point during our trip we stopped at a remote gas station and devoured tacos! He was such a fun colleague and by the end of the trip-a friend.
As we boarded our Southwest flight (a full plane) he bet me $5 the chair next to him would remain empty. This was a full flight! He found a tall individual, and sat down in the middle seat. As the plane took off I turned around and he smiled. Moving a seat over (giving him and the man a seat in between). "You owe me $5" he grinned. I laughed all the way back to Chicago.
It was important to him that he spend Father's Day with his kids, so we arranged the trip for him to come in Monday afternoon. This would have been his last Father's Day. I am so grateful he decided to come Monday afternoon to have that time with his family. I could see how much he valued his family.
He was extremely talented and really easy to work with. We had an absolute blast during our time together and I am grateful to God for putting me in his path, if only for a week.
I pray for your peace. 
He was extraordinary and I will miss him dearly. 

Art was visiting us in Germany in September 2018 to take some pictures of our employees at our sites in Wesseling and Frankfurt. While he took these images, we also asked him, if he could shoot some images at our educuation and training center. Images used until now are easily 10 years old and were in dire need of updating .

He could have easily rejected this additional work, pointing at our already packed schedule. But he did not even hesitate when we suggested this to him.

As a result of this additional half-day photoshoot, this facility has now dozens of modern looking images of all our apprenticeship programs, that are now used in the recruitment efforts across the region.

So, his work lives on. 

I've had the pleasure to travel through the Netherlands and Germany with Art when he came over to Europe to shoot some corporate images. He was ecstatic that the car rental company upgraded us to a BMW M-series and kept asking excitedly if we were on the Autobahn, yet. During the long car rides, he talked at length about his children and how proud he was of them. 

He was one of the most hardworking people I have ever met. It was like he was immune to getting jetlagged - he just kept going. When we went to Botlek (NL) to photograph one of our plants, I asked him if he could possibly get a bit of the green lawn in the picture. "I'll do better than that", he said, lying down and putting his lens behind a small group of yellow flowers. The site won't let me post two pictures, so I could show you the end result, but it's definitely one of the most cheerful, Spring-y photos we have of a location. Mind you, this picture was taken during a cold and dreary European October. 

He was so kind. He never showed any irritation when I kept going the wrong way and even forgave me for not going faster than 120 km/hour on his beloved Autobahn. I wish his family all the strength they need to keep going and hope they find some solace in the fond memories we have of him. Rest in peace, Art. 

My handsome beautiful Nephew you will be missed tremendously.  You had such a kind and beautiful soul and will never be forgotten. You have left so many broken hearts but we know you will now be in peace and reunited with your family in Heaven. 
You were the first grandchild and the first nephew born to our family.  Your kind heart and beautiful soul will always be remembered.  
My fondest memory of you was when you were a year old and I was 10 years old.  you were on the high chair and your Aunt Martha was trying to feed you but I could not stop kissing you adorable little face.  You were getting so annoyed with me that you just grabbed my face and pinched it.  Your aunt Martha  and I just started to laugh.
RIP my beautiful Nephew I love you with all my heart.

My fondest memory of you cuz, is the first time I met you. You were already a teenager and I was much younger, and you had invited me to go hang out in your room little did I know you were going to scare the crap out of me with all your horror film collection and masks later on down the years we talk about cars.  I remember when you got  your mustang. You became this older brother figure in my life. I can’t believe it, that you are gone but you are missed, loved and will never be forgotten.  I know you are in better place. I will always miss you cuz, Rest In Peace ArtIII. 

Today is a very sad day, but filled with loving memories. My fondest memories of you include the trip that your grandma took me and your uncles Juan Carlos Giraldo and George Giraldo on an Amtrak train all the way from Houston to Riverside,  California when your dad was stationed there in the Air Force.  We all piled into your dad's Mach 1 Mustang and went to Disneyland.  I remember you on your Big Wheel cruising the street in front of that house. I remember your ambitions of martial arts and bmx motocross when you were a kid. Your ambitions carried into your adulthood and you became a phenomenal photographer.  You chose a passion that allowed countless people to share their memories as well. You always put others before yourself. You will be truly missed Art. We love you and may you forever RIP my beloved nephew.
