Audie Savannah Mullens, beloved mother, sister, and Memaw, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2025 at the age of 95. Born on September 18, 1929, in Calcasieu, Louisiana, Audie lived a long and full life rooted in love, faith, and devotion to her family.
She married the love of her life, Jesse Mullens, on February 9, 1948. After their marriage, they settled in Houston, Texas, where they raised their children and built a lifetime of memories. Audie was the proud mother of four children, six grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
A gifted quilter and gardener, Audie’s hands and heart were never still. She stitched love into every quilt she made—heirlooms her family will treasure for generations. She nurtured not only the plants in her garden but also the lives and spirits of those around her.
Audie never met a stranger. Her warmth, humor, and ability to make anyone feel at home were unmatched. She gave generously of her time and love, especially to her grandchildren, each of whom she helped raise and guide during different stages of their childhood. The lessons she imparted and the love she shared will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Audie is survived by her siblings Harles Wright of Calcasieu, LA; Louise Quigley (Lee) of Conroe, TX; and Patsy Bass (Freddie) of Calcasieu, LA; her children Thomas Mullens (Linda) of Houston, TX; Jimmie Mullens (Sandy) of Belleville, TX; and Carol Pruitt (Larry) of Pasadena, TX; and daughter-in-law Lorna Drachenberg of Krugerville, TX. She is also survived by her grandchildren Brian Mullens, Rhiannon Smith, Michael Mullens, Ashley Gunnerson, Alison Pruitt, and Jessica Pruitt-Miller, along with nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruby and Hosea Wright; her husband, Jesse Mullens Sr.; her son, Jesse Mullens Jr.; and her sister, Ida Poe.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the caregivers at Bahia Personal Care Home for the love and care they provided to Memaw over the past few years.
Though she will be deeply missed, her family takes comfort in knowing she has been reunited in heaven with her loved ones.
