Aurora C. Salinas

With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Aurora Chapa Salinas, on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at the age of 87. She passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her husband, children, and grandchildren.

Aurora was born on March 12, 1938, in El Azúcar, Tamaulipas, Mexico. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she lived a life defined by love, selflessness, and quiet strength. She dedicated herself fully to caring for and nurturing her family, always putting the needs of others before her own.

As a mother, she taught us the values of love, kindness, and compassion, and instilled in us a deep sense of unity and responsibility toward one another. She implanted in us a love of God and never let us leave home without giving us her blessing—small acts of devotion that shaped our lives in countless ways.

Aurora's love language was acts of service. She had a passion for cooking and expressed her love through the warmth of homemade meals. For her, feeding others wasn’t just a task—it was a heartfelt expression of love and care. Visitors rarely left her home hungry; she was always ready to prepare something delicious, often at a moment’s notice. She will be fondly remembered for her tamales, menudo, her delicious asado de puerco, and her homemade flour tortillas—every dish she made was special because it was made with love.

Aurora also found joy in gardening. She took pride in growing rose bushes and natural herbs—which she used to brew warm teas for her loved ones, especially when someone was feeling under the weather. Aurora was a gifted and creative woman, she enjoyed sewing and knitting in her quiet moments, lovingly making hats, headbands, scarves, and cozy footsies for her daughters, granddaughters, and close friends.

Aurora leaves behind her husband of 61 years, Mario Salinas, and their five children:

• Oneida Salinas Perez (Eugene Perez)

• Nestor Mario Salinas (Michelle Salinas)

• Aurora Salinas Garcia (Gerardo Garcia)

She is also survived by her eleven grandchildren:

Alexandra Lozano (Arthur Reyes), William Petree, Alec Petree, Breanna Harris (Robert Harris), Nicholas Perez, Jonathan Pecero, Bibiana Matute (Fidel Matute), Bryana Garcia, Maverick Garcia, Megan Salinas, and Ashley Salinas; and one great-granddaughter, Amalia Reyes.

Aurora was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and two sisters.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, located at 6900 Lawndale St., Houston, TX 77023. A Rosary will be recited at 6:30 PM, following the visitation. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects and celebrate the life of our cherished mother.

The funeral service will take place on Thursday, August 7, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Resurrection Catholic Church, located at 915 Zoe Street, Houston, TX 77020. Interment will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, located at 6900 Lawndale St., Houston, TX 77023.

Though our hearts are heavy, we find peace knowing that our beloved mother is now resting in the arms of our Heavenly Father. Her love and spirit will live on in each of us, guiding and inspiring us as we move forward in life.

En Memoria de Aurora Chapa Salinas

Con el corazón lleno de tristeza y profundo dolor, anunciamos el deceso de nuestra querida madre, Aurora Chapa Salinas, quien fallecio el día martes 29 de julio de 2025, a la edad de 87 anos. Nuestra Madre murio en paz en su hogar, rodeada por todos sus seres queridos, esposo, hijos y nietos.

Aurora nació el 12 de marzo de 1938 en El Azúcar, Tamaulipas, México. Fue una esposa, madre y abuela ejemplar, quien vivio su vida guiada por el amor a su familia, con entrega, dedicacion, y fuerza silenciosa. Se entregó de lleno al cuidado y bienestar de su familia, siempre poniendo las necesidades de los demás antes que las de ella misma.

Como madre, nos enseñó grandes valores como el amor, la bondad y la compasion hacia los demas. Nuestra Madre siempre nos inculcó un profundo sentido de union familiar y responsabilidad hacia los demás. Ella nos inculcó el amor a Dios y nunca nos dejaba salir de casa sin darnos su bendición—pequeños actos de devoción que moldearon nuestras vidas de innumerables maneras.

Su lenguaje de Amor fue siempre servir a los demas. Tenía una pasión por la cocina y expresaba su cariño a través del calor de las comidas caseras. Para ella, alimentar a los demás no era solo una tarea, sino una expresión sincera de amor y cuidados. Rara vez alguien salía de su casa con hambre; siempre estaba lista para preparar algo delicioso, incluso sin previo aviso. Será recordada con cariño por sus deliciosos tamales, menudo, asado de puerco, y tortillas de harina hechas a mano—cada platillo era especial porque estaba hecho con amor.

Aurora también encontraba alegría en la jardinería. Le encantaba cultivar rosales y hierbas naturales, que usaba para preparar infusiones calientes para sus seres queridos, especialmente cuando alguien se sentía mal. Aurora era una mujer talentosa y creativa; disfrutaba de coser y tejer en sus momentos de tranquilidad, elaborando con amor gorros, diademas, bufandas, y pantuflas para sus hijas, nietas y amigas cercanas.

Aurora deja atrás a su esposo de 61 años, Mario Salinas, y a sus cinco hijos:

También le sobreviven once nietos:

Aurora fue la última sobreviviente de su familia inmediata. Le precedieron en la muerte sus padres, tres hermanos y dos hermanas.

La velación se llevará a cabo el día Miércoles, Agosto 6, 2025, de 5:00 PM a 8:00 PM, en Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, ubicado en 6900 Lawndale St., Houston, TX 77023. El rosario se rezará a las 6:30 PM, después de la velación. Familiares y amigos están cordialmente invitados a rendir homenaje y celebrar la vida de nuestra amada madre.

El servicio fúnebre se realizará el día Jueves, Agosto 7, 2025 en la Iglesia de la Resurrección ubicada en 915 Zoe Street, Houston, TX 77020. El sepelio será en el cementerio Forest Park Lawndale, ubicado en 6900 Lawndale St., Houston, TX 77023.

Aunque nuestros corazones están afligidos, encontramos consuelo al saber que nuestra querida madre descansa ahora en los brazos de nuestro Padre Celestial. Su amor y espíritu vivirán en cada uno de nosotros, guiándonos e inspirándonos mientras seguimos adelante en la vida.
