

A life that touches the hearts of others goes on forever. Ava Lee Falls, the first of seven siblings was born April 8, 1945 in Houston, Texas. She was the daughter of David and Thelma Jones. Family meant everything to Ava. She was happiest spending her time with her family;doing things that would bring all of them together. Family barbeques and holidays were special to her. During her formative years, Ava attended Jack Yates High School. At a young age,she married her first husband, John Earl Hood. To this union was born two of her three children, Tina and Bruce Hood. Ava met and married Nathaniel James Falls on March 18, 1970. To this union was born a girl, Cathleen. Ava took on the role of "mother" to her grandson, Nathan; rearing him and Cathleen simultaneously. She wore many different hats in her lifetime. She always made herself available to help those who needed her. Whether it was to run errands, cook or just be a sounding board for someone, whatever was needed, Ava was willing to provide it. She gave her life to Jesus Christ in 2005. Like everything else she did, this was a commitment she took very seriously. She knew her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Ava loved music and for anyone who knew her, they knew her favorite musical icon was Aretha Franklin. She is preceded in death by her father, David C. Jones, Sr., step-father, Walter Howard, and her daughter, Tina Hood. She is survived by her husband Nathaniel Falls; children; Bruce Hood and Cathleen Vassell; grandchildren; Nathan, Britoya,and Breelyn Hood, Jahlisa Turner, Dominic and Camille Vassell; sisters Carolyn Jones, Thelma Jones, Mary Jones, Janice Taylor and Gustiallia Piper, brother David Jones, Jr.; sisters-in-law Barbara Murray, Ruby Broussard, and Dorothy Falls; brother-in-law William Falls, mother Thelma Howard; step-mother Esther Jones and a host of family and friends.
