

1933 and lived in Texas until she succumbed to lung cancer on January 24, 2015.
She was a few months shy of 82. Barbara was a recent supporter of the First Baptist Church of Houston. Pastor Rick Jones is officiating from First Church. Thank you, Pastor Jones and First Church.
Affectionately known by many as ’’Aunt Barbara,” she was an integral member of the large and loving McAlexander’s, a Texas family. She was the youngest of five children of Fredrick McAlexander and Ellen Real White. Barbara married Johnny Boutte of Port Arthur, who preceded her in death in 1977. Steve Bednarski, her youngest son preceded her in death in the 80s. Older brother Fred Jr. McAlexander, and an older brother Lester Ray McAlexander, and older sister Betty McAlexander Baugh have also preceded Barbara in death.
Those in her family still living include son, Steven D. Snyder, eldest and only living sibling of the Fred McAlexander’s and Real clan is sister Martha McAlexander Berry of Houston along with eldest niece and daughter, Jennifer Berry Ferguson and husband Jerry and son, Shawn Ferguson, and wife Emily of Ft. Worth.
Nephew Carter McAlexander, wife Goldie & children Aaron & wife Dana & their daughters Kennedy Kelly and Rylee McAlexander, of Montgomery Tx. as well as Catera McAlexander Mueller and husband Charles and their children, Michael and Ronan Gomberg of Anderson, Tx.
Nephew Jonnie McAlexander, wife Gail and son Jon McAlexander, Jr, of Trinity, Tx.
Nephew Steve Rasberry, wife Deborah and daughters, Megan, Kimberly & Rebecca of Tarkington, Tx.
Niece Penny Schellenberg and husband Steve Schellenberg of Houston.
Nephew Darwin Gibson of Huntsville, TX, son Jamie, & daughter Wynter of San Francisco, Ca. and daughter Brandy in Arkansas.
Last but not least Barbara’s kitty “Birdie McAlexander,” who has now been adopted by Goldie.
Dry Creek Cemetery is the final home of many McAlexander/Boutte immediate relatives including the Reals, Whites, Wiggins, and Stowes, to name a few. Barbara had always planned to be interred alongside Johnny Boutte her husband by sharing a double marker.
If interested, there is a REAL family reunion at the Keechi Cemetery Keechi, Leon County, Texas typically on Mother’s Day in May. It is a great way to celebrate Mother's Day. Please bring a covered dish for the (noon) lunch. Everyone that is somehow related to the Real, McGuffin, Recknor, Neal, Meale, Magouirk, Coats, Freeman, McDonald, Vick, Greer, Portman, Ferguson, Lowrey, Lewis, Buzbee, Bebee, Horn, McIntyre, McNaulty, Dickason, Brown, DeLouch, Eldridge, Freeman, Harding, Hitchcock, Manning, families are invited. The list goes on and on. Last year, there were over 300 folks. Be sure to check the message boards to confirm the date,
Barbara was a descendant of Jesse Malachi Real, a Pony Express Rider with descent from a member of the second voyage on the Mayflower (the Pilgrims) as presented by Mr.Clower.

Major General U.G. McAlexander was a graduate of the West Point Academy and a former “Rough Rider” who, as Captain of the volunteers, charged up San Juan Hill along with former U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt. Major General U. G. McAlexander was also in WWI, and was affectionately referred to by his men in his command as the “Rock of the Marne’’ during and after WWI. He commanded the 38th infantry regiment of The 3rd Infantry, U.S. Army near the Marne River in France in 1918. He and the 38th were both dubbed and known as "The Rock of the Marne."
His wife, May Skinner McAlexander (1865-1920), is buried with him. These are just a few tidbits to invite a loving atmosphere and sharing of stories and memories, which Barbara loved to hear.
