Barbara Ann Woods was born in Houston, Texas, to Eva and W. A. Pannell. She had one sibling, a sister, Dorothy Jean Pannell Gunther. Her mother was a housewife, and her father was a prominent real estate broker. Barbara Ann spent her childhood and teenage years living on Amherst Rd., in West University with her mother, sister and stepfather, W. M. MacDonald. She attended Pershing Jr. High. She graduated from Lamar High School in 1951. She graduated from
the University of Houston, with a degree in Elementary Education. She was licensed as a Real Estate Agent.
She met the love of her life, Jack E. Woods while they were both students at Pershing Jr. High. They married at St. Paul’s Methodist Church, in December 1952. When Jack died in 1989, they had been married for 37 years. Jack submitted her engagement picture to the Houston Post newspaper, and Barbara Ann won first prize, which was a beautiful Florentine Lace wedding dress. The church was filled to overflowing as her family, friends, and many of the Houston community came to see Barbara Ann in her beautiful wedding dress. Jack and Barbara Ann went to many events at the Shamrock Hilton Hotel, including their senior prom.
Jack and Barbara welcomed their son, David E. Woods on November 9, 1954. Jack was an employee of George C. Vaughan and Sons, both in Houston and then in Dallas, Texas. They moved to Richardson Texas in the early 1960's. Jack was an employee of Texas Instrument where he was a pioneer in the computer industry. Barbara Ann was a mother and housewife and she also sold real estate. She taught elementary school in Houston. She was an employee of
Macarthy Real Estate Agency, in Richardson Texas. She was often their top sales person.
Barbara Ann is preceded in death by her husband, Jack E. Woods and their son, Mark W. Woods, also her mother, father, and sister. She is survived by her son, David E. Woods, granddaughter, Kristin M. Woods, and her nephew, Bill Burkhaulter. Services will be held at Forest Park Lawndale. 6900 Lawndale. Houston TX. at 9 am, Wednesday, July 6, 2016.
