Bennie Collins

On June 19, 1939, Bro. Bennie Collins, Jr. was born to the union of Alva  Smith and Bennie Collins, Sr., in Rayville, Louisiana. At an early age, he  united  with Second Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. W. S. Robinson. He graduated from Morehouse High School in Bastrop, Louisiana. Mr. Bennie was an exceptional boxer in the late 60’s and continued this hobby after relocating to Houston, Texas.  Shortly after moving to Houston, Bennie joined Ebenezer Baptist Church,  under the leadership of Rev. I .S. Anderson.Bennie was a faithful l employee of Brown and Root, Inc. After ending his employment with Brown and Root, he started his new career at Brake Check, Inc. and married Pollye Cobbs on November 30, 1976. His work at Brake Check led to his entrepreneurship at Bennie's Garage, where he worked until his health declined. Mr. Bennie touched the hearts of many people and he would give you his last. In his words, "If I have a piece of bread, you have half".On Friday, October 21, 2016 at 7:46 p.m., God saw that his soul needed rest and his earthly journey was complete. Upon his heavenly arrival, he was welcomed by his mother, Alva Smith; his father, Bennie Collins, Sr., his brothers, Jimmy Smith and James Collins; sisters: Martha Hall ,  Ernestine Williams, and Dorthy Deusen.He leaves, to cherish his loving memory: his wife, Pollye Collins, and de-voted children: Alonzo (Alison) Robinson , Joyce (John) Williams, Royce (Tonya) Collins, Jackie (Michael) Dixon, Ronald (Regina) Collins, Bennie Collins lll, Ieshai (Gregory) Collins, Kristal , Lance, Ricky Hall, and Bennie  Hall; four siblings: Johnny (Brenda) Miller, LC (Ora) Smith, Freddy (Donna) Miller,and Mary Hampton; his beloved grandchildren: Raymond (Damira) Collins, Shenathra (Antrone) Mehlhorn, Latasha Dixon, Michael, Jr. (KeKe) Dixon, Cheria (Marcus) Butler, Johmarcus Collins, Royce Bonds, Dornethia Dixon, Monique Dixon, Bennicia Collins, Matthew Collins, Cameron Collins, Kristopher, Lanyecia, Faizon, Kaely Powers Collins, and Lance, Jr.; 26 great  grandchildren; and a host of aunts, uncles, and beloved friends.
