

Bettie was born on July 23, 1938, in DeRidder, Louisiana, to Edith and Ed Cain. She graduated from Boyce High School before moving to Houston, Texas; where she earned her Bachelor's Degree in Education from the University of Houston.
Bettie dedicated over 50 years of her life to education, teaching elementary school students in several states before retiring from the Clear Creek Independent School District. Her compassion, patience, and love for learning left a lasting impact on countless students and colleagues.
Beyond her career, Bettie lived life with a spirit of curiosity and generosity. She loved to travel, visit with family and friends, and was an avid reader. She also had a special talent for reupholstering furniture and refurbishing lamps, often donating her beautiful work to charitable causes.
Bettie was preceded in death by her brother, Bruce Cain, and her sister, Louise Peck. She is survived by her brother John Cain of Boyce, Louisiana, beloved son, Matthew Von Bishop, daughter-in-law, Laura Von Bishop, of West Palm Beach, Florida; her grandson, Austin, of Lexington, Kentucky; numerous nieces and nephews; her dear cousin, Ann Dibello (Sam Dibello), of Friendswood, Texas; and her cherished friend of over 35 years, Betty Hoke of Houston, Texas.
Bettie will be deeply missed by her family, friends, neighbors, and all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her warmth, kindness, and joyful spirit will continue to inspire those she touched throughout her long and meaningful life.
