Blanche (Blanca) Nora Eckhart of Houston, Texas passed away Monday, November 11 at the age of 77. She was born on August 23, 1947 in Monterey, Mexico and grew up in Houston, Texas. She was a graduate of Milby High School in Houston.
For over 20 years, Blanche worked at Continental Airlines as an Administrative Assistant, a job she truly enjoyed because she was able to take many wonderful trips and see her grandkids whenever she wanted. In later life, she retired from Continental Airlines and volunteered most of her time at the Holocaust Museum in Houston.
She was actively involved in her church, Resurrection Catholic Church, where she taught Catechism classes and on Mondays she would help count the previous day’s offerings.
Blanche was preceded in death by her father, Andres Martinez, mother, Maria Martinez, sister Josephine Cortez and brothers, Andres H. Martinez and Juan Martinez. She is survived by her three sisters, Mary Gonzales, Magda I. Flores, and Gloria A. Martinez, and only daughter, Vanessa Hawkins and husband Jim Hawkins. And perhaps what she was most proud of her grandkids, Ashley Maria and Tyler James.
