

Bobbie was born to Roy and Elsie Tee Rudd on April 28, 1936.
Bobbie graduated from Center High School in 1953. At the age of 17 she entered college at Steven F. Austin University and within 5 years completed both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in education. During her senior year of college she was elected Miss SFA.
She met and married Raymond Smiley in Houston, TX in 1961. She was a dedicated Christian wife and loving mother to their two daughters, Gina and Jill.
Bobbie also enjoyed loving and supporting her church family. She served alongside Ray while he was an elder of Southeast Church of Christ. She also taught many bible classes, sang on the praise team, and led singing at many Ladies’ Day events.
She taught 4th grade at Pearl Hall in Pasadena ISD for over 40 years. She enjoyed going to musicals and attending gospel music concerts.She enjoyed shopping with her grandchildren, fashion, and jewelry. She also loved reading for pleasure especially Christian fiction author Karen Kingsbury.
Bobbie is survived by her daughter, Gina McMahon of Houston, Texas, her daughter Jill Taylor (Greg) of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and her brother William Rudd (Diana) of Dallas, Texas, sister-in-law Mary Riley, of Houston, Texas. She also leaves her five grandchildren, Brianna McMahon, Matthew McMahon (Natalie), Ashley Taylor (Laural), Anna Sexton (Brendan), and Jacob Taylor (Sidney), as well as three great grandchildren, Finley, Micah, and Samuel, with 2 more babies on the way.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond, her sister, Glenda Spradley, and her parents, Roy and Elsie Tee Rudd.
Celebration of Life is scheduled for Wednesday, August 6th at 11am at Southeast Church of Christ in Friendswood, Texas. A family only graveside service will follow at Forest Park Lawndale. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the non-profit, “Hope for Haiti’s Children.”
